Saturday Night Live's cold open was a spoof of the Super Bowl pre-game show, dubbing it "4 hours of television for 11 minutes of action," featuring Kenan Thompson as James Brown, Alex Moffat as Bill Cowher, Mikey Day as Phil Simms, Chris Redd as Nate Burleson, and Beck Bennett as a doofus version of Boomer Esiason.
The more-than-enough hosts analyze some misguided efforts to pay homage to the social issues facing the nation, including a questionable Cheez-Its commercial and some politically "balanced" Budweiser ads. The highlight, though, comes when both Kansas City's coach Andy Reid and Tampa Bay's Bruce Arians are played by Aidy Bryant, who manages some quick costume changes to manage the feat.
