Last night, American Ninja Warrior competitor Sean Bryan proved he has the physical and mental fortitude to win the $100,000 grand prize when he suffered a bloody head injury and still managed to complete the course.
Bryan, who is known as the Papal Ninja because of his Catholic upbringing and community work, got knocked in the head twice while tackling the Drop Zone obstacle, but he quickly collected himself and kept moving, even as the blood started rushing down his face. The co-hosts were shocked at his commitment, although Akbar Gbaja-Biamila noted that it could impact him in the final stages of the competition. "I can tell you, the blood starts to drip in the eye, it can mess with your confidence on an obstacle," said the ANW co-host.
Despite a quick slip on the Warped Wall, Gbaja-Biamila's prediction didn't come true, as Bryan grabbed a towel, wiped off his face, and expertly moved through the remaining obstacles. Bryan finished the course in 5 minutes and 57 seconds, earning him a spot in the Las Vegas finals. Congrats, Sean Bryan!
