Amy Poehler reunited with her former Weekend Update co-anchor Thursday night on Late Night with Seth Meyers when the subject turned how her former Parks and Recreaction co-star Kathryn Hahn's turn in WandaVision has inspired her to reach for a role of her own in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
"I do feel like there's a lot of room in the Marvel Universe for people who could just be the helpers," Poehler said. "I feel like I could be like [Captain Marvel star] Brie Larson's, I don't know, bossy sister who's not in the biz or something. They're like 'Gretchen, what do you want?' And she's like 'I don't know, what are you guys doing? Do you want me to turn on the lasers?' I feel like there could be somebody who's turning on the lasers, because you never see that. You never see who's turning things on and off, who's closing up the headquarters at night... So I propose a small, indie Marvel thing, shoots near my house, and I could play somebody's sister who is in charge of turning on the lasers."
Meyers even got her to improvise a speech she would make to Captain Marvel as she was departing for space fights, although he initially said the sister's name would be 'Karen,' which prompted the ever-clever Poehler to insist on talking to the manager about why the name was changed from Gretchen.
