Cecily Strong Nails Giuliani's Trainwreck Witness Melissa Carone on SNL

When Rudy Giuliani introduced the world to "voter fraud witness" Melissa Carone, people on Twitter immediately drew comparisons to Cecily Strong's "Girl You Wish You Hadn't Started a Conversation With" character, and assumed that Carone was basically a lock to show up on Saturday Night Live this week, played either by Strong or Kate McKinnon.

Despite warnings not to laugh off the danger Carone represents, SNL indeed put Strong in the role for last night's cold open, with McKinnon taking her customary spot as Giuliani, now audibly farting (something that actually happened at the real hearings), and it indeed seemed like the kind of role Strong has perfected, showcasing a completely unearned word-garbling confidence.

"I'm not lying. I signed an after-David... Yeah, that's correct. David signed, and then I signed right after David."

"We need to listen to our hearts and our mimes, and even though it's a fraudulent erection, it can still get you pregnant."

She went on to mix up Dominon Voting Systems with Domino's Pizza, her rants interweaved with a parade of other insane witnesses that included Nicole Kidman's character from The Undoing, as played by Chloe Fineman.

"Your honor, my husband, Hugh Grant, is innocent. There's no way he could have been that murderer. He's too hot and white."

"I'm sorry, where is your accent supposed to be from?"

"It's from the upper east side of Australia. Crikey, it's Zabars!"
