Conan O'Brien announced earlier this week that he'll be ending his run as a late-night talk show host after 28 years and three different shows. After such a storied run, the pressure to have a great finale will be immense, but Conan already revealed what will happen on his last episode back in 2019. Taking a cue from the then-recent Game of Thrones finale, he made sure to try to be better than that.
"People are really upset with Game of Thrones, one of the greatest shows of all time," he said. "That's why I'm happy I've put a lot of thought into how our show is going to end. It's going to be Season 48. Yeah, Season 48, but it's gonna be great. I'm going to burn the whole set down, and then I'm going to marry my Aunt Louise."
Also, co-host Andy Richter is going to sail away to Catalina on his gurney. "It's just going to be a shot of you sailing on a Viking ship to Catalina for no reason," O'Brien laughed. "And people are going to be like 'that sucked! I hate that!'"
He may be 38 seasons off in that prediction, but the rest sounds like it would be a must-watch.
Conan airs weeknights at 11:00 PM ET on TBS until June of 2021.
