Ellen welcomed Courteney Cox to her show Thursday when talked turned — as it inevitably does — to Friends. Specifically the iconic fountain-dancing scenes in the show's opening credits.
According to Cox, it was a grueling shoot. "We were in that fountain for a long time... Somebody thought it would be really fun, but let me tell you what happens — it's not fun to be dancing in fountains for hours and hours."
The shoot did apparently endear Cox to Matthew Perry, whom she explains in the clip above that she didn't know well at the time. "I remember — this is so Matthew — but he was like 'I can't remember a time that I wasn't in this fountain.' We were just like how much longer are we going to pretend loving dancing in the water? It was fun, but not really."
With the HBO Max Friends reunion finally in the can, we'll soon see all six castmates together on the show's set for the first time in seventeen years. HBO Max has yet to announce a release date for the documentary special.
