Friends is Headed to Theaters For its 25th Anniversary

In honor of the 25th anniversary of the show's premiere, more than a thousand theaters are participating in an event that will bring twelve episodes of the series to the big screen for the very first time.
Why pay to see episodes you could just as well catch for free on TV or Netflix? First of all, how often do you get to watch a sitcom on the big screen? (Well, OK, there was that I Love Lucy event earlier this month.) Second, each of the Friends episodes being presented have been remastered in 4K from the original 35mm camera negative, and will be accompanied by interviews and never-before seen content. Finally (and this is the point of events like these), how fun will it be to watch a some classic Friends episodes in a theater filled with some of the show's biggest fans?
The event will take place over three nights in late September and early October. According to organizers, the episodes screened each night will be as follows:September 23: Pilot –ReDo, The One With The Black Out, The One With The Birth, The One Where Ross Finds Out
September 28: The One With The Prom Video, The One Where No One’s Ready, The One With The Morning After, The One With The Embryos
October 2nd: The One With Chandler In A Box, The One With Ross’s Wedding – Part 2, The One Where Everyone Finds Out, The One Where Ross Got High
Tickets and a complete listing of theaters participating in "Friends 25th: The One With The Anniversary" will be available this Friday, August 16th at the event's website.
Friends originally premiered September 22, 1994, airing 236 episodes over its ten-year run on NBC. The show catapulted its stars — David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and Jennifer Aniston — to international prominence. The show continues to air in repeats on local stations, multiple cable channels and on Netflix.
