George O'Malley Returns to Grey's Anatomy

Season 17 of Grey's Anatomy continues to serve as Old Home Week. Following the return of McDreamy (Patrick Dempsey) in the COVID-19 fever dreams of Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), last night saw the return of George O'Malley (T.R. Knight), who died back in Season 5 after he sacrificed himself to save someone from getting hit by a bus.

They also addressed the fact that Knight isn't the young intern he was when he died 11 years ago.

"The sand isn't real. The ocean isn't real. The body? It's not real. Maybe it's just more peaceful for you to imagine me older."

The big metaphysical question of whether or not it's Meredith's choice to stay or go doesn't really get answered either. George says he didn't get to choose because it's different for everyone, but he would have stayed if he could have.

Grey's Anatomy airs Thursday nights at 9:00 PM ET on ABC.
