In case you were wondering if Girls5eva were lip-synching or not, here they are live on stage at the Hollywood Bowl Friday night performing their single “4 Stars” live. As one commenter on YouTube put it, “I had no idea Busy Philipps could sing.”
Girls5eva is the fictitious one-hit wonder at the center of the new Peacock comedy of the same name from 30 Rock creators Tina Fey and Robert Carlock. When a rapper samples one of their songs, the four surviving members of the ’90s group — now in their forties — decide to make a comeback. The show’s nine-song soundtrack is out on Epic Records and the show is garnering strong reviews.
Aaron Barnhart has written about television since 1994, including 15 years as TV critic for the Kansas City Star.
