So Zack Snyder directed 2013's Man of Steel and 2016's Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, all to set up his 2017 Justice League feature film. However, due to tragic personal circumstances, he had to leave Justice League before it was fully completed. Marvel's Avengers director Joss Whedon was then brought on to finish the job, which turned out to mean massively rewriting and reshooting the film, and that finished project was an inconsistent mess that was considered a box office failure.
However, after years of clamoring for Warner Bros. to release "The Snyder Cut" that was said to have been almost fully completed before Whedon was brought on, DC Comics fans (who do tend to be fanatical at times) will finally have their wishes granted next year when Justice League: Director's Cut premieres on HBO Max.
In this new teaser, we see several things that were not in the 2017 release, including the classic black-suit Superman, and it is set to Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah," which serves both as a celebration hymn for the improbable release of the film and as a piss-take to Snyder's critics who lambasted the awkward sex scene that same song was used for in his Watchmen film.
Justice League: Director's Cut will premiere exclusively on HBO Max in 2021.
