Jimmy Kimmel reignited his feud with Sen. Ted Cruz in Wednesday night monologue bit about the Texas Republican's newfound support for Britney Spears and the #FreeBritney movement.
Cruz called for reforming conservatorship law earlier this week, saying he's "emphatically in the #FreeBritney camp," a remark that Kimmel simply couldn't ignore. "Since when is Ted Cruz in favor of women making their own decisions?" asked the ABC host, earning a raucous round of applause from his audience. "That's a new one."
"He is so desperate to get one celebrity to like him. I mean, forget it, Ted," continued Kimmel. "Even Kirstie Alley thinks you're a dick."
The late night host went on to say that while "Ted Cruz wants to free Britney, Bill Cosby would like to free R. Kelly," who was convicted on nine counts of sex trafficking Monday. After the verdict was announced, a spokesperson told the New York Post that Cosby believes Kelly's "constitutional rights were grossly abused" at the trial.
"If anyone knows about grossly abusing, it's Bill Cosby," said Kimmel. "It's a shame he canceled his comedy tour, because he has clearly still got it."
Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs weeknights at 11:35 PM ET on ABC.
