John Cena appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Monday in his full costume from the set of his new HBO Max series Peacemaker, based on his character from the James Gunn action-comedy film The Suicide Squad. The full, ridiculous costume, including what Colbert called "the dumbest helmet ever committed to a superhero."
Cena sums up the character thusly: "He loves peace, and he's willing to kill to get it, and that's pretty much it. He doesn't care how many men, women, and children he needs to kill to get peace."
Cena also claimed to be zooming in from Peacemaker's house. "You know Bruce Wayne has that huge mansion and the Bat-cave? I'm in a... it's a single-wide. It's tasteful. It's tastefully done." Given the nature of the character, that could be a joke, or it could be the truth.
He also noted that while he hosts the obstacle-course show Wipeout, he has no plans to try to beat the course himself. "No way in hell that I'd ever get through it. I wouldn't get through the first obstacle. They asked me 'hey, do you want to run the course?' Not a chance. I don't want to run. I'm very fine being a commentator in the booth."
Colbert then asked if Peacemaker could make it through the course. "Peacemaker could f**king do anything," Cena responded.
