Late night hosts Jimmy Kimmel and Seth Meyers poked fun at Donald Trump's new social media platform, Truth Social, Wednesday night. While Kimmel seemed to discover why Trump hasn't actually used the platform yet, Meyers mocked the site's "desperate" vibe, as evidenced by a sad interaction between CEO (and former congressman) Devin Nunes and Fox News' Brian Kilmeade.
"He still hasn't posted on his own Truth Social app since the day it launched back in February," said Kimmel. "The last time he ignored something this much, it was named 'Eric.'"
Truth Social claims to be a "free speech" haven, but when Kimmel went through the app's community guidelines, he realized that many of Trump's tweets would have violated its terms. "Maybe this is why Trump hasn't been posting on Truth Social," said the ABC host. "He's banned from that one, too!"
Over on NBC, Meyers attempted to explain why Truth Social is off to a slow start. "It can't help that Trump himself seems incapable of remembering or even pronouncing the name of his own site," he said, before playing a clip of Trump calling it "Troth Senchal" at a rally over the weekend. "It's just amazing. He got mad at Twitter and made up his own version out of true vengeance, and he can't even remember what it's called."
Meyers then pointed to Nunes' Tuesday appearance on Fox News, where he pleaded with Kilmeade to use the app more, saying, "You need to send some truths out if you want to get more followers."
"They're clearly desperate for people to sign up," said Meyers. "Every time you think your life is bad, just remember you can be a former congressman begging Brian Kilmeade — a man with the eyes of a Cabbage Patch Doll — to send out 'truths.'"
