Marvel Should Bring These MCU Characters Back for Their Disney+ Shows

With its new streaming platform set to launch this November, Disney is taking on Netflix in a huge way. Not only will Disney+ boast a back catalog of glitzy properties from the Disney treasure chest, the company also plans to produce a fleet of original Marvel Cinematic Universe-related TV shows for the new service. 

The shows announced so far are She-Hulk, WandaVision, Moon Knight, Hawkeye, What If…?, Loki, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Ms. Marvel. The ideas offer endless opportunities for storytelling within the universe created in the last 10 years of MCU theatrical blockbusters, with an enormous array of characters to work with. In addition to A-Listers like Tom Hiddleston's Loki, Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch, Baul Bettany's Vision, Anthony Mackie's Falcon, and Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barned, a bevy of side characters are also returning, including Emily VanCamp’s Sharon Carter (Captain America: The Winter Soldier), Kat Dennings’s Darcy (Thor), Daniel Brühl’s Helmut Zemo (Captain America: Civil War), and Randall Park’s Jimmy Woo (Ant-Man and the Wasp).

With the mouse house bringing back so many characters big and small, we thought we'd take the opportunity to suggest some others who deserve more screen time, and whose presence could really blossom in the sunlight of Disney+.

Agent Melinda May (Agents of SHIELD): Ming-Na Wen is an icon all on her own, but her Agent May deserves special mention, and she deserves to continue to thrive in the MCU, even after the ABC series ends next year.
Best Moment So Far: Fighting Agent 33 (also played by Ming-Na Wen), in a hotel room.
How She Could Come Back: Depending on how Agents of SHIELD ends next year, they could have her appear as the liaison between SHIELD and the heroes of any number of new shows.

Quicksilver (Avengers: Age of Ultron): In terms of the movies, the most notable thing about Quicksilver is that he appeared in both the X-Men and Marvel universes within a year of each other, as two different iterations of the character, played by different actors (Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the MCU; Evan Peters in X-Men: Days of Future Past). In Age of Ultron, he died and was almost never mentioned again, while in the X-Men films, he continues to get one big slow-motion set piece per movie. Quicksilver is a pretty big staple of both the X-Men and the Avengers comic books. He’s an iconic character who deserves some love, and his sister…happens to be Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch, who is getting her own series. It would make sense to at least see him in some flashbacks.
Best Moment So Far: With the help of his sister, saving a bunch of folks from a runaway train car.
How He Could Come Back: Maybe Wanda brings him back to life in whatever way she’s brought Vision back.

Jessica Jones (Jessica Jones): One of the best MCU characters, portrayed on screen with genuine toughness by Krysten Ritter. After three seasons on Netflix, she never got a happy ending, but she deserves one.
Best Moment So Far: The moment she finally defeated Kilgrave at the end of Season 1.
How She Could Come Back: Have Jessica, newly-married-to-Luke-Cage (Mike Colter), pop up on WandaVision, investigating what the hell is going on and rolling her eyes through it all.

Phil Coulson (Avengers, Agents of SHIELD): It’s bananas that as far as Thor, Captain America, and Iron Man are concerned (or … were concerned, in some cases), their beloved friend Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) is dead, slain by Loki's scepter in a team-galvanizing death in the first Avengers film. Phil Coulson has been alive and kicking again for nearly 7 years, just off the Avengers' radar, and on ABC television. Alive or dead (and he's been both, a few times now), Coulson's the absolute heart of SHIELD.
Best Moment So Far: Taking on Loki, even half dead.
How He Could Come Back: Have him, Melinda May, and Sharon Carter (Emily Vancamp) play the go-to SHIELD agents of the Disney+ shows, serving the role Cobie Smulders' Maria Hill has filled in the movies.

Lady Sif (Thor, Thor: The Dark World): After being heavily featured in the first two Thor movies and two episodes of Agents of SHIELD, this Asgardian warrior and BFF of Thor disappeared. We witnessed the murder of all of Thor’s friends in Thor: Raganarok except for her – did she survive Hela’s attack? And where the hell was she in Avengers: Endgame? These questions all deserve answers that aren't just "Jamie Alexander got a hit TV show called Blindspot."
Best Moment So Far: Taking on The Destroyer alongside the Warriors Three in the first Thor film.
How She Could Come Back: Maybe she was trapped somewhere between Asgard and Midgard (Earth), and once she finds her way to our realm, she has a few team-ups with She-Hulk.

Aaron Davis (Spider-Man: Homecoming): In the comics, his character becomes super-villain, Prowler. And Prowler is the uncle of another Spider-Man: Miles Morales, as seen in last winter's Into the Spider-verse. In Homecoming, though, we saw Aaron Davis played by Donald Glover. Even just seeing the charismatic Glover get to play burglar Prowler would be great enough, but even better if it takes us slightly closer to getting Miles Morales in the live-action MCU.
Best Moment So Far: Hey! He helped Spider-Man after Spidey webbed him to his trunk.
How He Could Come Back: Have Prowler be the Catwoman-type burglar character who teams up with and also clashes with Moon Knight and She-Hulk.

Honorable Mentions: Daredevil (how cool would it be to see him vs She-Hulk in the courtroom). Jeri Hogarth (make She-Hulk a courtroom drama with cameos from every MCU lawyer). Misty Knight (have her and Iron Fist's Colleen Wing be solving crimes throughout the different shows but…with swords). Joey (bring back Agents of SHIELD’s superpowered gay character).
