Nicolina Bozzo Makes American Idol History with Disney Villain's Song

Nicolina Bozzo entered the American Idol history books last night when she became the first contestant to sing a villain's song during Disney Night. In an unprecedented move, Nicolina belted out "Poor Unfortunate Souls" from The Little Mermaid, and she eagerly embraced Ursula's dark, witchy vibe.

Nicolina's villainess risk paid off, and she earned rave reviews from the judges. "That was so good, it was scary," said Katy Perry, who slowly sank beneath the judges' desk over the course of the performance. "Honestly, I think you stole the show. That is how you do it. That's how you do show business: the entrance, the fog, the look. This is fun. That was incredible. That was the best performance of the night so far."

Lionel Richie added that Sunday's episode might have been "the best Disney Night ever," led by Nicolina's brassy vocals. Luke Bryan agreed, joking that he doesn't "want to see the playback of [his] face" when she transformed into Ursula onstage. "Great job. It was like we weren't at American Idol," he added.

Viewers at home clearly felt similarly: at the end of the episode, Nicolina was voted into Idol's Top 7, who take the stage next Sunday, May 8 at 8:00 PM ET on ABC.
