There's likely not much overlap between Late Night with Seth Meyers viewers and Fox News fans, but last night, Meyers shined a light on what's happening over at the conservative network with regard to ivermectin, a drug used to de-worm livestock that's been touted by hosts as a potential COVID-19 treatment. Meyers took aim at Fox News' Laura Ingraham and Tucker Carlson, both of whom promoted the unproven hydroxychloroquine treatment and other questionable remedies, for "trying to sell a miracle drug" that has not been approved by the FDA to treat COVID-19 and, even worse, has lead to an uptick in calls to poison control centers about ivermectin overdoses.
"Fox News has basically turned into one of those spam emails promising you free boner pills for life," said the Late Night host. "You know someone at the company who made ivermectin once said, 'Hey, should we put 'not for people' on the horse pill labels?' And someone else said, 'There's a picture of a horse on the bottle, it's fine!'"
"I mean, how does this shit keep getting dumber and dumber?" asked Meyers. "First it was hydroxychloroquine, then it was bleach, powerful lights. Now it's horse dewormer?"
"I'm honestly terrified to imagine what's next," he continued. "One day we're gonna wake up and Brian Kilmeade is going to be telling people you can cure COVID By eating kibble and sleeping in a bed of kitty litter. 'Works for me! That's why I blink as often as a sphinx.'"
