After recent segments in Southern California and Iowa, Jordan Klepper brought "Fingers the Pulse" back to Washington, D.C. for the anniversary of the Capitol insurrection. Klepper was particularly interested in speaking to people "who were unapologetic about what happened" on January 6, like Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene, who vowed to re-create the pro-Trump mob's walk from the White House to the Capitol.
Klepper stopped Gaetz along this "walk," which The Daily Show correspondent revealed involved nothing more than speaking in front of cameras and then getting into his car. "Hey, Matt Gaetz, if you're going to re-enact the events of January 6, who is going to take a shit in the Rotunda?" asked Klepper, as Gaetz's security shoved him out of the way. "And also who is going to make the gallows?"
"Isn't this a little childish, Matt?" he continued. "Or is that what attracts you to this?"
Klepper's question, of course, was a reference to an investigation into alleged sex trafficking by the Florida Republican (he has denied the allegations). Federal authorities are reportedly investigating whether Gaetz in 2017 had sex with a 17-year-old girl for money, and whether he paid for her to travel with him across state lines.
The Daily Show with Trevor Noah airs weeknights at 11:00 PM ET on Comedy Central.
