The Hills Killed Reality TV for Dan Levy, Below Deck Mediterranean Got Him Back

What do you do after becoming a quadruple-Emmy winner in one night? If you're Schitt's Creek mastermind Dan Levy, you watch all the television there is in the world, but you avoid reality TV for as long as you can. 

Levy appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon Wednesday night, and talked about how he made the "in quarantine part" of People's Sexiest Man Alive issue, and then how said quarantine eventually brought him back to watching reality television.

"I was working on MTV with The Hills for a long time," Levy said. "I was doing the after show for The Hills, and when you work so closely with a reality television show —and I loved The Hills — but it kind of takes the magic out of the experience of watching reality television, because you end up knowing too much about how it works. So I had to take a long hiatus, and then quarantine happened, and I had quite literally watched every show on television, and so I finally just resolved myself to just accepting the fact that I only have reality TV left — not to diminish the genre. But it started, and then it became a problem, because I couldn't stop watching it and now I guess it's all I watch." 

What shows finally drew him back?

"I started with The Real Housewives of Atlanta, I ended with a Below Deck Mediterranean," he said, before gushing about the latter show with Fallon. "The drama that happens on the last season of Below Deck Mediterranean is earth-shattering! I have, many times, thought about vacationing to Australia to take Hannah's yachting course... I would last 25 seconds on that ship."

Levy next appears in the Hulu original film Happiest Season, which premieres on the streamer November 25th.
