You may have seen Tom Jones as a judge on The Voice UK, but now it's time to hear why they called him "The Voice." Feburary 7, 1969 saw the premiere of This Is Tom Jones, a musical variety show of the kind that was common in that era of television, and it ran on ABC for three seasons.
Interspersed with sketch comedy from Fred Willard's Ace Trucking Company Improv Group would be great musical performances from the biggest stars of the era, including this barn-burner where the vocal powerhouse from Wales duets on a rollicking rendition of "Raise Your Hand" with the one and only Janis Joplin, in an appearance that aired 10 months to the day before her death.
Andy Hunsaker has a head full of sitcom gags and nerd-genre lore, and can be followed @AndyHunsaker if you're into that sort of thing.
