Though its known for its frequent time-jumps, that isn't stopping This is Us from tackling the here and now when it returns for its fourth season. The show's just-released trailer begins with Randall (Sterling K.Brown) wearing a face mask, and later agonizing with his family while watching the national protests against police brutality.
"What we're dealing with as a people," he muses. "It's just so tragic."
"The world is a resilient place. This pain is not forever," Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson) counters. "Nothing is forever, except us."
We also see some of the aftermath of Randall's blow-out with his adopted brother Kevin (Justin Hartley - also wearing a mask) and a hint that they make some amends.
Season 5 of This Is Us premieres October 27 at 9:00 PM ET on NBC.
