In this cip from Thursday night'sTonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Tracy Morgan addressed his flub at Sunday's Golden Globe Awards... sort of.
It's always hard to pin Morgan down, but when Fallon replayed his mispronunciation of the word "Soul" on stage, he blamed his lack of a GED — or at least his grandmother did. He also pointed out that Questlove knows exactly what his problem is.
"You went to high school with me, you know what happened," Morgan said to Quest. "He knows I dropped out in the 12th grade with 4 credits to go! I loved dropping out! I wish I could go back in time and drop out again! Nobody saw this! They all said 'you ain't gonna be nothin' without your GED.' Now, look! My grandmother called me that night and said 'you need to stop messin' around out there on those streets and go back and get your GED. Forget about the Wal-Mart money, forget about the illustrious career and go get your GED! 38 years of night school ain't right! Your uncle went to Elmira State Penitentiary and even he got his diploma! Stop all this nonsense, boy, and go back and get your GED!'"
Morgan also said the flub was not his fault, because even his daughter doesn't think much of his intelligence. "Listen, I'm home-schooling my daughter, and in the middle of the lesson, she stopped and said 'Mommy was right, you're stupid. You need to be home-schooled.'"
He kept going from there, talking about pooping in a pool and pretty girls farting, but he makes it work. Tracy Morgan, ladies and gentlemen.
