The Bartlet administration lives again. HBO Max this morning released the first trailer for next week's West Wing reunion special, and from the looks of things, this isn't your typical Zoom-style show reunion.
The clip-filled trailer gives us our best peek yet at the special, which was shot as a staged production that looks to resemble Hamilton more than it does the virtual show reunions we've grown accustomed to seeing. Included are glimpses of all the major returning stars, including Martin Sheen, Rob Lowe, Bradley Whitford, and Allison Janney. We also get a first look at Sterling K Brown filling in for the late John Spencer in the role of Leo McGarry and looking every bit the concerned father figure we remember Leo to be.
Debuting Thursday October 15 on HBO Max, A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote will see the original cast re-enact the classic Season 3 episode, "Hartfield's Landing," complete with new written material from series creator Aaron Sorkin. Proceeds raised from the special will benefit When We All Vote, a non-partisan organization dedicated to increasing voter participation.
Andy Hunsaker has a head full of sitcom gags and nerd-genre lore, and can be followed @AndyHunsaker if you're into that sort of thing.
