It was a moment that will go down in Wheel of Fortune history. For the first time in 40 years, two contestants won the $100,000 Bonus Round prize in consecutive games, with Lisa Kramer taking home the jackpot on Monday night, and Mark Baer winning big on Tuesday.
Kramer's Monday night victory wasn't anything to write home about — unlike the first $100,000 Bonus Round winner, Ilene Knebel, she didn't ask to clean up her own confetti — but host Pat Sajak still mentioned it repeatedly throughout Tuesday's show, according to Yahoo. "On yesterday's show, we gave $100,000 in the Bonus Round," he told the contestants. "I checked the rules. It can happen two days in a row. Nothing says you can't do that."
Sajak was soon proven correct when Baer completed the Bonus Round puzzle and was handed a golden envelope. "Huh, it's never happened," said the visibly surprised host, as Baer cheered. "And wouldn't you know it, I just sold all my confetti stock."
"Well, even after 40 years, new things happen around here," said Sajak, after the confetti rained down. "There's always something new around here, isn't there? That's incredible."
Baer's win brought his total to $126,550, just slightly over Kramer's $116,700 winnings. For those doing the math at home, Wheel of Fortune has awarded nearly $250,000 this week — and it's only Wednesday.
