Thanksgiving episodes are often very special episodes, but few have beenas special as the "Thanksgiving" episode in the second season of Netflix's Master of None.
Lena Waithe became the first black woman to ever win the Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for this episode, which focused on her character Denise and her story of coming out to her mother Catherine (Angela Bassett), who struggles to accept it for years, especially when Denise brings girlfriends home for the holiday.
Waithe based this episode largely on her own real-life coming out experience, which adds even more significant emotional weight.
Master of None ran from 2015-2017 on Netflix.
