We could all use something beautiful right now, so here that something is. Fans of gorgeous animation outside of the Disney realm swill want to pay attention to this new trailer for Wolfwalkers that was revealed today.
It's the third in an "Irish folklore trilogy" from the production house of Cartoon Saloon, and since the first two films — The Secret of Kells and Song of the Sea — were both nominated for Academy Awards, this one is set to impress. It already premiered to great acclaim at the Toronto International Film Festival this year.
The official synopsis reads: "In a time of superstition and magic, a young apprentice hunter, Robyn Goodfellowe, journeys to Ireland with her father to wipe out the last wolf pack. While exploring the forbidden lands outside the city walls, Robyn befriends a free-spirited girl, Mebh, a member of a mysterious tribe rumored to have the ability to transform into wolves by night. As they search for Mebh’s missing mother, Robyn uncovers a secret that draws her further into the enchanted world of the Wolfwalkers and risks turning into the very thing her father is tasked to destroy."
Wolfwalkers premieres on Apple TV December 11.
