Just when you thought HBO's Sunday nights couldn't possibly get any hotter, the network tonight unveils what may be its most anticipated series launch of the year. Elsewhere, the Eagles face the Cowboys, The Simpsons spoof Stranger Things, Steven Soderbergh continues his takeover of television, and Kirsten Dunst wraps her first season on Showtime. Here are the highlights.
SERIES PREMIERE: It's been a long and winding road for the iconic comic book, but Damon Lindelof (Lost, The Leftovers) seems determined to bring HBO's Watchmen in for a satisfying landing. The series depicts an alternate version of America, building upon the original storyline, while taking things in an exciting new direction. Watch the preview. 9:00 PM ET on HBO
SPORTS: Time for some football. Sunday Night Football pits the Philadelphia Eagles against the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium. 8:15 PM ET on NBC
HALLOWEEN SPECIAL: If you ever came home from trick or treating and flipped on The Simpsons, you may be startled to hear this is the 30th installment of Treehouse of Horror. Tonight's episode offers a Stranger Things tribute ripe with comic possibilities (Think: Chief Wiggum standing in for David Harbour's Chief Hopper). 8:00 PM ET on Fox
SERIES PREMIERE: Steven Soderbergh produced the original docuseries Leavenworth, which examines the story of First Lieutenant Clint Lorancesent, who was sentenced to the infamous military prison, but claims he wasn't given a fair trial. Watch the preview. 9:30 PM ET on Starz
