A successful TV writer/producer/creator leaves network TV to star as a fictionalized version of himself in an off-network comedy. Kenya Barris appears to be taking the Larry David route with his new Netflix comedy, the first project in a reported $100 million three-year deal that wooed the creator of black-ish and its two spinoffs away from his longtime home at Disney/ABC. Pairing Barris with Rashida Jones as his fictional wife, #blackAF drops its eight-episode first season today.
