Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani's Lovebirds Skips Theaters For Netflix

In an alternate universe where coronavirus never happened, The Lovebirds would have opened in theaters last month. Instead, the new action comedy featuring Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani (reteaming with his Big Sick director Michael Showalter) debuts today on Netflix. Also today: Homecoming returns for its second season, Netflix premieres a Sundance favorite, and Mythic Quest returns with a quarantine special. Here's what's new and noteworthy on TV this Friday:

PREMIERE MOVIE: Issa Rae (Insecure) and Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley) star in The Lovebirds. The film follows a couple as they go on the run after their vehicle is carjacked and used in a murder, implicating them as the culprits. Watch the trailer. Streaming on Netflix

SEASON PREMIERE: The animated spinoff of the beloved series returns with fresh episodes, as Trailer Park Boys: The Animated Series chronicles the ongoing misadventures of everyone's favorite New Zealand lowlifes. Watch the trailer. Streaming on Netflix

SERIES PREMIERE: Community's Yvette Nicole Brown hosts Disney+'s The Big Fib, in which kid contestants must determine which of two adult "experts" are actually lying about a given topic. An invaluable skill in this day and age. Watch the trailer. Streaming on Disney+

SPECIAL EPISODE: The cast and crew of Mythic Quest weren't going to let something like a global pandemic keep them from giving their fans a new episode. SEASON PREMIERE: The second season of Marvel's Future Avengers hits Disney+ today. The anime series follows a young boy and his friends as they join the legendary Avengers team for a superhero apprenticeship. Streaming on Disney+

NEW EPISODE: Ahead of next week's season finale, RuPaul's Drag Race will be holding its traditional reunion slumber party remotely tonight. Though the queens won't be gathered in the same room, they're certain to have plenty to say about all of the season's highlights, along with a few predictions about next week's big event. 8:00 PM ET on VH1
