Launch Day For Peacock: Another Streaming Service Enters the Fray

Peacock, the latest addition to this year’s crop of new streaming platforms launches today. A megaportal to NBCUniversal’s vast catalog of TV shows and movies, Peacock boasts over 15,000 hours of content, anchored by a small selection of originals (with more to come). Also today: ABC bows a new family sitcom starring Will Sasso, Married at First Sight returns for its eleventh season, and the true crime docuseries Snapped tackles the Betty Broderick case. Here's what's new and noteworthy on TV this Wednesday:

NEW SERIES: Featuring a cast of favorites from Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones and G.I. Jane, Peacock's flagship original Brave New World re-imagines Aldous Huxley's masterwork of science fiction in which a utopian society achieves peace and stability through the prohibition of monogamy, privacy, money, family, and history itself. NEW SERIES: David Schwimmer returns to TV comedy (and NBCUniversal) in the GCHQ-set Intelligence, in which he plays a maverick NSA agent who teams with a hapless British computer analyst (Nick Mohammed) to form a new international cyber crimes unit. Watch the trailer. Streaming on Peacock

TV MOVIE: James Roday and Dulé Hill headline Psych 2: Lassie Come Home, the second feature-length film spawned from the long-running USA Network series. The new film sees Shawn and Gus back in Santa Barbara, where they reunite with old friends and work to secretly untangle a case that involves the supernatural. Watch the trailer. NEW SERIES: Crime thriller The Capture mesmerized British viewers when it premiered last year on the BBC. When a military hero is charged with a crime based on damning CCTV footage, the tenacious detective handling his case begins to realise seeing isn't always believing. Watch the trailer. SERIES PREMIERE: Coronavirus production shutdowns have created a dearth of new scripted content on broadcast TV, which makes ABC's United We Fall a bit of a unicorn. First picked up last spring, ABC has held back the Will Sasso family sitcom until now. Christina Vidal-Mitchell, Jane Curtain and Guillermo Díaz co-star. Watch the trailer.
