2020 has been… unique, and a year like no other calls for a political convention like no other. Until recently, the Republican National Committee was aiming to hold a convention that at least in some manner resembled the conventions we're all used to seeing on TV (Think big crowds, balloons, and lots of confetti), but the Democratic National Committee has been planning for a virtual convention for months. Today we'll get our first peak at what they've been cooking up. LIVE COVERAGE: They may basically be infomercials at this point, but as Aaron Barnhart writes today, televised party conventions remain a vital part of our political process. The 2020 Democratic National Convention kicks off tonight with remote speeches from some very influential names in American politics, including Jim Clyburn, Bernie Sanders, Amy Klobuchar, John Kasich, and Michelle Obama. Coverage begins at 8:00 PM ET/5:00 PT on cable news and PBS, and at 10:00 PM ET/7:00 PM PT on ABC, CBS and NBC.
