Freeform Gets Timely With Quarantine Rom-Com Love in the Time of Corona

As much as the coronavirus pandemic has forced us to isolate, it's also forced us to iterate. Shot in the homes of its actors, Freeform's two-night limited series event Love in the Time of Corona is just the latest example of how TV has adapted to (and taken inspiration from) the new abnormal. The four part romantic comedy airs in two blocks this Saturday and Sunday night. Also this weekend: HBO's The Vow exposes a cult, Yellowstone's third season comes to a bloody conclusion, and Syfy hands its airwaves over to Sharknado for a marathon of all six films. Here's what's new and noteworthy on TV this weekend:

SATURDAY AUGUST 22

LIMITED SERIES PREMIERE: Hamilton's Leslie Odom Jr headlines an ensemble cast in Love in the Time of Corona, which tells four interwoven stories about the search for love and connection amid the pandemic. CABLE PREMIERE: HBO's big Saturday night movie premiere is Queen & Slim. The 2019 film tells the story of Queen (Jodie Turner-Smith) and Slim (Daniel Kaluuya) whose first date is interrupted by a traffic stop that ends in tragedy, forcing them to go on the run. Melina Matsoukas (Insecure, Master of None) directs from a screenplay by Lena Waithe. Watch the trailer. 8:00 PM ET on HBO

MOVIE MARATHON: Though the curtain fell on the Sharknado franchise after 2018's The Last Sharknado, all six Grade-Z made for TV screamers are airing as part of Syfy's One Last Bite of Summer Marathon. Ian Ziering (Beverly Hills, 90210) plays Fin Shepard throughout the fishy saga. The fun begins at 8:30 AM ET on Syfy

SEASON FINALE: A huge hit before the pandemic, the Kevin Costner-led drama Yellowstone has continued breaking ratings records in its third season. With the action reaching a gruesome boiling point last week, the season finale promises to bring the inevitable face-off between Costner's John Dutton and his season-long antagonist Roarke Morris (Josh Holloway). 9:00 PM ET on Paramount Network

NEW EPISODE: Tyler won the Head of Household competition on Big Brother Thursday, which means Janelle and Kaysar are in big trouble. Can they avoid getting nominated? Plus, the Safety Suite competition will mean immunity for two other houseguests. 8:00 PM ET on CBS
