NBC Tries a Tuesday Night Comedy Block With Young Rock and The Kenan Show

Tuesday is shaping up to be the new Thursday at NBC, with two high-profile sitcoms snagging the pre- This Is Us timeslot, and the network announcing it will go comedy-free on Thursday nights beginning this spring. The new gambit kicks off tonight with the series premieres of Young Rock and The Kenan Show.

Also today: This Is Us brings new baby drama, MTV tackles the mental health challenges faced by young people amid the pandemic, and Bear Grylls could use your help tracking down a hungry lion. Here's what's new and noteworthy on TV this Tuesday:

SERIES PREMIERE: Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson borrows a page from This Is Us in NBC's new half-hour comedy Young Rock, which tells the story of his early life across three timelines. Primetimer's Joe Reid previewed the series and filed this review. 8:00 PM ET on NBC

SERIES PREMIERE: Kenan Thompson's years-in-the-making family sitcom The Kenan Show stars the SNL funnyman as a recently widowed host of Atlanta's #2 morning show who's struggling to balance his job and the responsibilities of raising his young daughters as a single parent. SERIES FINALE: The indigenous coming-of-age supernatural thriller Trickster wraps its run on The CW tonight. Canada's CBC, which produced the series, pulled the plug late last month after the show's creator/director apologized for falsely claiming that she was of Aboriginal descent. 9:00 PM ET on The CW
