Launch Day For Paramount+: Another Streaming Service Enters the Fray

Calling Paramount+ a new streaming service isn't entirely fair, as it's built on the back of CBS All Access, which was first launched back in 2014. But with today's relaunch, ViacomCBS is repositioning its streaming service as a portal to content from across its vast media portfolio, and more in line with Disney+, HBO Max and Peacock.

The service is kicking things off with several high profile originals, including a new SpongeBob movie and spinoff series, a series that reunites the original 1992 cast of The Real World, and a new season of Stephen Colbert's Tooning Out the News. Here's what's new and noteworthy on TV this Thursday:

ORIGINAL MOVIE: SpongeBob SquarePants sets off in search of his missing pet snail Gary in The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run, a new feature-length adventure in which a path of clues lead SpongeBob and Patrick to the powerful King Poseidon, who has Gary held captive in the Lost City of Atlantic City. SERIES PREMIERE: The very first Real World cast reunites in Real World Homecoming: New York, which sees the seven former roommates move back into the show's original New York loft almost thirty years later. Watch trailer. Streaming on Paramount+

SERIES PREMIERE: Sensing a pattern here? The new animated series Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years follows a ten-year-old SpongeBob SquarePants and his pals as they build underwater campfires, catch wild jellyfish, and swim in Lake Yuckymuck.
