If ever a show had "Netflix hit" written all over it, it's The Serpent. The highly addictive new series combines dark subject matter with superb acting and stylish period detail as it tells the story of how a Dutch diplomat managed to track down Charles Sobraj, the charismatic con man and serial killer who committed a series of crimes along South Asia's "hippie trail" in the mid 1970s. The complete eight-episode limited series drops Friday.
