Better Things Says Goodbye, David Simon Returns to Baltimore in We Own This City

Five seasons and 50-plus episodes later, Pamela Adlon’s acclaimed comedy Better Things ends its run on FX. The series ends tonight with an episode written and directed by Adlon.

Gentleman Jack: Season 2 premiere. 9-1-1: New episode. The members of the 118 race to rescue a social media influencer when she has an accident in a sauna, then to an emergency at a reality show wedding, and finally to a tragedy when a mother and daughter go hiking. Long Slow Exhale: Season 1 finale. Spectrum’s women’s college basketball drama ends its first season with three new episodes. Streaming on Spectrum Originals

American Idol: New episode. For the first time ever, judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie will pick songs for each of the Top 11 to perform. Without knowing which judge offered the suggestion, each contestant will select their favorite song to perform. 8:00 PM ET on ABC

American Song Contest: New episode. The live semi-finals begin with ten artists returning to the stage with an elevated performance of their original song. Also a redemption song is revealed, adding an 11th artist back to the competition. 8:00 PM ET on NBC

Mud, Sweat and Beards: Season 1 finale. Survival experts Donny Dust and Ray Livingston attempt to build a primitive paradise in the New Mexico desert, where they must combat extreme weather and aggressive predators. 11:00 PM ET on USA

NBA Playoffs: The Celtics and Nets reach Game 4, while the Raptors-Sixers and Jazz-Mavs advance to Game 5:
