Netflix Dominates Weekend TV With Midnight Club, The Mole, and Derry Girls

After something of a down month, Netflix returns with a vengeance this weekend with a host of major releases, including Mike Flanagan’s The Midnight Club adaptation, a long-awaited reboot of The Mole, and Derry Girls Season 3.

Elsewhere, Showtime gets into the Halloween spirit with vampire drama Let the Right One In, Werewolf by Night expands the MCU, The Real Housewives of Potomac returns for its seventh season, and more. Here’s what’s new and noteworthy on TV this weekend:

The Midnight Club: Complete Season 1. At a hospice for terminally ill young adults, eight patients come together every night at midnight to tell each other stories — and make a pact that the next one to die will give the group a sign from the beyond. Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House) adapted the series from Christopher Pike’s 1994 novel of the same name and his other works. Watch trailer. Streaming on Netflix

The Mole: Series premiere. Netflix reimagines the iconic competition in a new series that sees 12 players work together in various cash challenges, all while one actively sabotages the group. Derry Girls: Complete Season 3 (series finale). Erin (Saoirse-Monica Jackson), Clare (Nicola Coughlan), Michelle (Jamie-Lee O’Donnell), Orla (Louisa Harland), and James (Dylan Llewellyn) get up to a wee bit of mischief in the final season of the Northern Ireland-set sitcom. Season 3 serves as a fitting cap for the hilarious and heartfelt comedy, and concludes with a 45-minute episode set against the backdrop of the Good Friday Agreement of 1998. Watch trailer. Werewolf by Night: Special presentation. The Marvel Cinematic Universe expands in a new direction in this special about a secret cabal of monster hunters that is thrust into a mysterious and deadly competition for a powerful relic. The Problem With Jon Stewart: Season 2 premiere. The former Daily Show host takes a deep dive into gender, elections, taxes, and more current affairs topics in the new season. Hellraiser: Original film. Odessa A’zion (Grand Army) plays a young woman struggling with addiction who comes into possession of an ancient puzzle box, unaware that its purpose is to summon the Cenobites, a group of sadistic supernatural beings from another dimension. Luckiest Girl Alive: Original film. Writer Ani FaNelli’s (Mila Kunis) perfectly crafted New York City life begins to unravel when a true-crime documentary forces her to confront her harrowing high school history. Watch trailer. Streaming on Netflix

Conversations With a Killer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Tapes: Complete docuseries. Netflix’s month of Dahmer content continues with a three-part series featuring never-before-heard interviews between the serial killer and his defense team. The series is Joe Berlinger’s third CWAK project and joins previous seasons centered on Ted Bundy and John Wayne Gacy. Watch trailer. Streaming on Netflix

Significant Other: Original film. After a young couple (Maika Monroe & Jake Lacy) embark on a remote backpacking trip through the Pacific Northwest, things take a dark turn when they realize they may not be alone. Watch trailer. Streaming on Paramount+

Catherine Called Birdy: Original film. Lena Dunham tries her hand at YA content in a film adaptation of Karen Cushman’s children’s novel. Set in medieval England, the PG-13 movie follows the daughter of a financially destitute Lord who thwarts her father’s plans to marry her off to a vile, wealthy suitor. The Lincoln Project: Docuseries premiere. Directors Karim Amer (The Vow) and Fisher Stevens (Dirty Money) follow the members of the Lincoln Project, a coalition of anti-Trump Republicans, over the course of the 2020 election and its aftermath in a five-episode series. S.W.A.T.: Season 6 premiere. Fire Country: Series premiere. Seeking redemption and a shortened prison sentence, Bode Donovan (Max Thieriot) joins a prison release firefighting program in Northern California, but drama follows when he’s assigned to the program in his rural hometown, where he was once a golden all-American son. Blue Bloods: Season 13 premiere. Bring It On: Cheer or Die: TV movie.
