Adam Scott climbs back into his catering suit, Christoph Waltz takes control, and Eugene Levy begrudgingly hits the road in a packed week that brings the long-awaited return of Party Down and the premieres of The Consultant and unscripted series The Reluctant Traveler.
Bel-Air Season 2 Premiere: Thursday, Peacock
The gritty reboot of Will Smith’s The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air returns with Will (Jabari Banks) drifting back into the dangerous habits of his West Philadelphia ways as he learns that a life of California luxury isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Say what you want about dark re-imaginings of childhood favorites, but Bel-Air’s mix of social realism and teen angst remains one of Peacock’s most-streamed originals yet. Three episodes drop today.
Grey’s Anatomy Season 19 Winter Premiere: Thursday, 9:00 PM ET on ABC
While ABC has teased this episode as “Meredith’s farewell to Seattle,” longtime Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo says that ominous phrasing is “a little bit of a trick” the venerable medical drama is playing on its viewers. Pompeo’s Dr. Meredith Grey is indeed leaving for a new life in Boston (which makes sense after her house burned down in the fall finale), but she stresses that not only will Grey continue narration duties, but the good doctor will pop back in on her Grey Sloan Memorial colleagues from time to time.
Party Down Season 3 Premiere: Friday, 9:00 PM ET on Starz
It’s been 13 years since the downtrodden Hollywood dreamers of Party Down Catering slung their last hors d’oeuvre, but it seems not much has changed in this long-awaited revival of the beloved sitcom. With the exception of Lizzy Caplan, everyone is back in the pink bow ties, including original stars Adam Scott, Ken Marino, Martin Starr, Ryan Hansen, and Megan Mullally, alongside new additions Zoë Chao, Tyrel Jackson Williams, and Jennifer Garner. Though the initial two-season run was watched by almost no one back in 2009-2010, Party Down is back for six more episodes, the increased visibility of its cast likely guaranteeing a few more people will tune in this time around.
Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal: Wednesday, Netflix
True-crime doesn’t get more twisted than this limited series about a well-connected South Carolina family and the mysterious deaths that have occurred around them. When a wealthy family with a generational grip on the local courts is faced with overdue scrutiny in the wake of horrific murders and deadly accidents, the greater community must reckon with stark truths about money, power, and accountability.
Outer Banks Season 3: Thursday, Netflix
Class divisions, teen romance, and possible buried treasure are all back as Outer Banks’ third season returns for more high adventure on the high seas. After leaving its heroes stranded on a deserted Caribbean island at the end of Season 2, the series picks back up with a shocking character return and some National Treasure-style plot twists involving everything from the Shroud of Turin to the search for El Dorado.
The Consultant: Friday, Amazon Prime Video
When a successful mobile gaming company faces an unexpected disaster, it’s up to imperious fixer Regus Patoff (Christoph Waltz) to come in and save the day in a darkly comic take on corporate politics. With Academy Award winner Waltz in charge, things naturally and immediately get weird, and the new boss’s eccentric methods leave suspicious employees swept up in a sinister plan.
The Reluctant Traveler: Friday, Apple TV+
If you’re looking for a grumpy-yet-hilarious tour guide to lead you through some of the world’s most remote places, then Eugene Levy is your guy. The Schitt’s Creek and SCTV legend reluctantly strikes out into the wild for our entertainment in a reality travel series. From camping at the foot of an active volcano to improbably helping birth an elephant in Africa, the travel-averse Levy sets out each episode to discover whether globe-hopping is as inconvenient and occasionally terrifying as he’d always imagined.
The Weeknd: Live at SoFi Stadium: Saturday, 8:00 PM ET on HBO
Filmed during The Weeknd’s 2022 “After Hours Til Dawn Tour,” this lavish concert special features songs from the singer’s albums Dawn FM and After Hours, including such hits as “Starboy,” “Blinding Lights,” “Can’t Feel My Face,” and “I Feel It Coming.”
Young Rock Season 3 Finale: Friday, 8:30 PM ET on NBC
Wrestler turned Hollywood royalty Dwayne Johnson’s autobiographical story concludes its third season just as Talia’uli Latukefu’s young The Rock tastes his first successes on the big screen and copes with the expectations of his multi-generational wrestling family. Meanwhile, in the series’s near-future framing device, the actual Johnson ponders his 2032 presidential candidacy, which could make Young Rock eerily prescient, should that time actually come.
1923 Season 1 Finale: Sunday, Paramount+
Sandwiched between 1883 and Yellowstone, this Depression-era Western continues creator Taylor Sheridan’s epic chronicle of the Dutton family. Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford make a formidable match for every rustler, rival, and bushwhacker besetting their beloved ranch, and while the show’s rambunctious Old West intrigue can be a little much, at least the two Hollywood legends are there to liven things up.
