“There was no question” — Love Island UK star Uma Jammeh opens up about her engagement with Wil Anderson

Love Island UK stars Uma Jammeh and Wil Anderson are officially engaged, one year after leaving the villa together. Uma confirmed the news on July 14, 2025, in an Instagram post showing off her pear-shaped diamond ring. She wore a green halter dress and captioned the post,

“We’ve been sitting on a bad boy piece of information.”

Wil responded in the comments, referencing Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies” with

“I liked it, so I put a ring on it.”

Their relationship began on Love Island UK season 11, which aired in 2024. Uma decided to leave the villa on day 37 after Wil was dumped from the island. At the time, she was selected by fellow contestant Reuben Collins, which left Wil single. Uma later addressed her decision on the Not My Bagg podcast in July 2024, saying,

“There was no question. I didn't have to think about it at all. I want to be with Wil.”

She shared that her goal on the show was to find a genuine connection, not just make it to the finals. One year later, that decision has led to an engagement outside the villa.

On the Not My Bagg podcast in July 2024, Uma explained her reasons for walking away from the show. She said she had no doubts about her decision sharing that she didn’t want to fake a new connection for the sake of staying on television. “I’ve met someone,” Uma said, adding that reaching that level of comfort with Wil took time. She explained that staying without him would have felt dishonest and not true to herself.

Love Island UK star Uma added that her intention wasn’t to advance to the finals but to experience something real. She said,

“It takes me so long to get to the position I was with Wil, to be so comfortable with someone.”

With just two weeks left in the season, she questioned the point of trying to start over. Her decision to leave, she clarified; was made for her own well-being, not just for Wil.

She said she would’ve been miserable without him and chose to stay true to herself by stepping away. This moment stood out to viewers as a defining part of her journey and it eventually led to their relationship growing stronger outside the villa.
