Ballard Season 1: Full list of cast and characters

Ballard Season 1, a police procedural TV series, is a spin-off of the Bosch franchise. Michael Alaimo and Kendall Sherwood created the show based on a character from Alaimo's Bosch novel series. This character named LAPD Detective Renée Ballard was first introduced in Bosch: Legacy.

Set in Los Angeles; Ballard Season 1 sees Detective Ballard lead the underfunded and under-resourced cold case unit which is tasked with solving decades-old cases. As Ballard delves deeper into the cases with help from volunteers and Harry Bosch she discovers that the thread of corruption runs deep within the police department.

Maggie Q plays the role of Detective Renée Ballard with Titus Welliver reprising his role as Harry Bosch in a guest star capacity. Courtney Taylor, John Carroll Lynch, Rebecca Field and Michael Mosley also appear in the show.

1) Maggie Q as LAPD Detective Renée Ballard

Maggie Q portrays the determined and empathetic Detective Renée Ballard. Detective Ballard faces personal trauma, professional changes, and some high-risk situations in her quest to bring the truth to light with help from volunteers and Harry Bosch.

Q began her professional acting career in Hong Kong and starred in action movies like Naked Gun and Gen-Y Cops. Her Hollywood breakthrough came in 2003 when she starred in Mission: Impossible III. She has since appeared in numerous Hollywood projects such as the Divergent film series and the show Designated Survivor.

2) John Carroll Lynch as Thomas Laffont

John Carroll Lynch appears as the retired police partner, Thomas Laffont, who decides to assist Ballard in solving cold cases. Thomas is an experienced detective and skilled interrogator and a constant pillar of support for Ballard.

Lynch made his future film debut over three decades ago in Grumpy Old Men. He has appeared in several popular films including Gran Torino, Shutter Island, Crazy, Stupid, Love and Zodiac. Furthermore, he has appeared in TV shows such as American Horror Story and Close to Home.

3) Courtney Taylor as Samira Parker

Courtney Taylor plays Samira Parker, a former LAPD officer whose efforts were overlooked in her previous role in Ballard Season 1. Samira is hired to work in the cold case unit, driven by the determination to discover the truth.

Taylor began her acting career, appearing in the web series Single & Anxious. She has also appeared in several other TV shows, including Abbott Elementary, The Company You Keep, Neon, and Out of My Mind.

4) Michael Mosley as Ted Rawls

Michael Mosley appears as an experienced reserve officer named Ted Rawls, who is given the responsibility of overseeing Ballard's work on cold cases. He is a reserved person but offers his advice from time to time.

Mosley's first professional acting role was in The Education of Max Bickford. He has also appeared in several shows, such as Ozark and Criminal Minds.
