Storage Wars, the A&E reality show, first started in 2010 and became popular for showing people bidding on abandoned storage units. Barry Weiss was among the original cast members. He started in season 1 and was with the series until the end of Season 4. His laid back style and comic timing made him a fan favorite.
Barry left Storage Wars in 2013. But in 2014, he returned to television after a few years off with a spinoff, Barry'd Treasure.
In 2019, he was in a motorcycle accident. He underwent multiple surgeries and was in intensive care, and spent two months recovering in a hospital.
There were also some reports he had a stroke while recovering.
Despite everything that happened, Barry returned to Storage Wars for a short time in season 14 in 2021 and again in season 15 in 2023. He is missing from season 16 which aired in 2025.
As of now, there are no reports whether Barry Weiss will return in future seasons.
During Barry's time on the show, there was early success, personal difficulty, and brief returns that reminded audiences why he was the most memorable part of the series.
Barry Weiss was a regular on Storage Wars during its first four seasons but decided to leave the series in 2013.
His departure was voluntary, and in 2017, he elaborated on the decision during a video interview.
“I had enough and kind of wanted to leave while it was still popular,” he said.
He also joked that he returned to being “a world-class slacker.” In 2014, Weiss fronted his own spinoff series, Barry’d Treasure, which aired for one season.
The show followed him on a road trip across the country as he searched for rare antiques and collectibles.
While it gave fans more time with his personality, it did not continue beyond its initial run.
After several years away from Storage Wars, Weiss returned for Season 14 in 2021 and rejoined the cast again in Season 15 in 2023.
His reappearance was welcomed by long-time viewers, especially since he had been absent from the show for nearly a decade.
His return offered a brief continuation of his unique style and presence, but he did not appear in Season 16, which premiered in 2025.
As of now, A&E has not confirmed whether he will participate in future episodes.
In April 2019, Barry Weiss was in a bad motorcycle crash in California that affected both his life and his work.
Reports said he and a friend ran into a car that was coming out of a parking space.
Barry was taken to the hospital with chest and leg injuries and had to stay in intensive care.
Barry’s friend, who was also hurt in the crash, posted an update on social media. He wrote,
“I got lucky, only a broken knee, elbow and wrist. My friend is much worse and has serious chest and leg trauma. Please send your prayers to Barry.”
Barry stayed in the hospital for two months and had several surgeries to recover.
The accident kept Barry away from TV for a long time, and his health became more important than work. Even so, he came back to Storage Wars for a short time in later seasons.
Barry is not part of season 16, which is now airing. Neither the network nor Barry has explained why. Because of his age and health, it’s not clear if Barry will return to the show.
For many fans, he is still known as one of the original cast members whose time on Storage Wars was shaped by both his own choices and events he didn’t expect.
Stay tuned for more updates.
