Cardi B is being sued by the woman who was hit by the rapper's mic in 2023. In July 2023, while the rapper was performing at the Las Vegas club, Drai's Beachclub, a woman threw her drink at her. In response, Cardi threw her mic at her.

The mic hit the woman then bounced off and hit another woman. The second lady filed a battery lawsuit. In August 2023, Cardi B was cleared of battery charges, and the suit never made it to the District Attorney's desk.

Now the woman who threw the drink, and was initially hit by the mic, has filed a lawsuit against the rapper, stating that the 2023 incident caused her "emotional distress."

The woman who filed under pseudonym Jane Doe, accused Cardi of assault, battery, negligence, and claimed the mic being sold for $99,900 on eBay for charity, heightened her distress.

Drew Findling, the rapper's attorney pointed out that a similar case was closed in 2023 for "insufficient evidence," and called the lawsuit an attempted "shakedown."

"The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the Clark County District Attorney's Office closed this matter for insufficient evidence a long time ago, but apparently the opportunity to try to make money off of a celebrity was too much for some willing law firm to pass up," the rapper's attorney said.

Jane Doe stated in her lawsuit that Cardi told people in the audience to throw water at her, as it was part of the performance, and a way to interact with the audience.

She claimed she was doing what everyone else was doing.

Jane Doe claimed after the clips from that day went viral, she was allegedly the victim of online harassment.

She also sued Drai's Beachclub, noting that they supposedly failed to take action on that day.

"What has been written off as a joke by many people is actually a traumatic experience that has significantly impacted my well-being and quality of life. I’m seeking justice in the hopes of holding Cardi B accountable for her misdeeds, as no celebrity is above the law," Jane Doe said in her public statement.

Cardi B shared her side of the story on the September 8, 2023, episode of The Breakfast Club. She said that she told the audience to throw water at her.

However, 15-20 minutes after that segment, the woman threw her drink at her, and the ice hit her face.

Cardi B told the hosts that when her face was hit with ice and water, she instinctively threw her mic without thinking.

She also stated that later she saw videos from that day, and claimed that the woman allegedly threw her drink to hurt her on purpose.

"There was a part of the show I tell people like 'Splash me' but even when I told people I was like 'Be careful with the face'... So f**king four songs after which is like 15-20 minutes after, this b*tch threw water and ice on my face. I just automatically reacted," the rapper said.

According to Hindustan Times' July 24, 2025, report, Jane Doe's attorney, Cierra N. Norris, would hold a press conference on Thursday in Las Vegas.
