Ironheart Season 2 was expected to tie up the loose ends from Season 1, which wrapped up with the release of the last three episodes on July 1, 2025. However, there has been no official announcement about the show’s renewal for a second season.
The first season holds an 86% rating on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer but only 52% on the Popcornmeter, indicating a strong approval from critics but a lukewarm reception from audiences. Disney+ and Marvel Studios’ silence on Ironheart season 2 has left the show’s future doubtful so far.
The first three episodes of Season 1 dropped on June 24, 2025. Dominique Thorne reprised her role as Riri Williams, who was first introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Created by Chinaka Hodge, the show centers on Riri, an MIT prodigy and armor-building genius.
Ironheart Season 1 sees Riri return to her hometown, Chicago, to have access to the technology and tools she needs to build a suit that would make Tony Stark/Iron Man proud. She gets involved with Parker Robbins and learns secrets that put technology and magic on a collision course.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly published on July 1, 2025, Chinaka Hodge expressed hope for more seasons of the show.
“I'll keep it with you a buck, I'm hoping for all work in Hollywood right now. Yes, a second season, a third season, a fourth season. Yes!,” Hodge said.
When asked what viewers can expect from Season 2, the creator stated:
"I look forward to answering that question with a staff of writers."
The finale ended with Riri agreeing on a deal with Mephisto, Natalie coming back to life, and the Hood’s return in the mid-credits scene. The murky future of Ironheart Season 2 has also left the futures of these newly introduced characters doubtful.
Anthony Ramos portrays Parker Robbins, who was initially Riri’s ally before turning into her nemesis. Even after Riri defeated Parker by separating him from the hood that Mephisto had given him, he did not seem to have had enough of magic and went to Zelma for help.
In the above-mentioned interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ramos opened up about his hopes for Ironheart Season 2. He said,
"I love this role and I'd love to have the opportunity to do more with him. And to dive deeper into Parker and Mephisto's relationship and how his failure affects him. But also, does Riri go bad, all the way there, and by some miracle, does Parker have to stop her now?"
Ramos is interested in exploring the storyline in which Parker has to intervene in Riri’s deal with Mephisto and remind her what the demonized magic did to him.
Anthony Ramos won a Grammy as well as a Primetime Emmy for his performance in the biographical stage musical, Hamilton. He has also appeared in movies like A Star is Born, In the Heights, and Twisters.
Ironheart is available to stream on Disney+.
