A poster of The Huxtables has spread on Facebook. On August 3, 2025, the Facebook page YODA BBY ABY uploaded the poster. As of now, the post has garnered over 30,000 reactions, 6,000 comments, and more than 7,000 shares.
It claimed that The Huxtables, an upcoming Peacock original show, would follow The Cosby Show, and Chappelle and Lathan would reprise Bill Cosby and Phylicia Rashad's roles, and showcase their characters' "wit, warmth, and enduring bond."
The page stated that the 10-episode-long show would be released on Peacock in January 2026, and would follow the original show's storyline after Cliff and Clair's children grow up and move out.
"The Huxtables, a vibrant continuation of the beloved Cosby Show characters, stars Dave Chappelle as Cliff, a renowned surgeon, and Sanaa Lathan as Clair, a celebrated published author, navigating love, legacy, and new adventures in their empty-nest life," the post stated.
The Huxtables poster is fake, as YODA BBY ABY clearly stated in their about section that they are a satirical page which posts "fake news" for entertainment. The page has posted many fan-made posters of popular shows.
"I'm just here to eat frogs, lift rocks and be satirical. The page is 100% satire and fake news," the about section reads.
A spin-off of The Cosby Show, A Different World, aired from 1987 to 1993. While The Cosby Show was popular for its influence as it broke Black stereotypes and portrayed a successful Black family on television, it also featured cameos from prominent Black artists.
The show was rerun on television for years until 2014, when decades-old sexual assault and harassment allegations against Bill Cosby, the lead actor in the show, resurfaced.
In October 2014, stand-up comedian Hannibal Buress told the audience to look up Cosby's old scandals during his comedy set. The stand-up set went viral, and people looked up Cosby's past controversies. Then over 60 women came forward and shared their experience with Bill Cosby.
In September 2018, Cosby was convicted of three counts of aggravated indecent assault and was sentenced to three to ten years in prison.
In June 2021, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned the comedian's conviction, stating that the conviction was given based on "tainted" testimony.
Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who played Theo Huxtable in the show, told the Associated Press in October 2015 that he was saddened to see the legacy of the sitcom "tarnished."
Warner stated that The Cosby Show stood up against the stereotypes against Black people. Because of Cosby's scandal, people in the future might consider a family like the Huxtables to be a "fairy tale."
"We've always had The Cosby Show to hold up against that. And the fact that we no longer have that, that's the thing that saddens me the most because in a few generations the Huxtables will have been just a fairy tale," Warner said.
