“It was such a shock” — 90 Day Fiancé’s Shekinah reacts to Sarper’s surprise wedding band during the Tell All

90 Day Fiancé stars Shekinah and Sarper Güven are opening up about their relationship after the Season 11 Tell All — including the surprise moment that caught Shekinah completely off guard. In an exclusive interview with Swooon on July 3, 2025,

“It was such a shock. I was so excited. I was just overwhelmed. I didn’t expect it because he did already give me an engagement ring, so I really wanted the wedding band,” Shekinah said.

The couple left the Tell All together, holding hands after an intense season and emotional reunion. During the taping, Sarper gave Shekinah a new engagement ring along with a wedding band, saying he wanted to show he was keeping his promises. He had already given her a ring in Turkey, but felt it was time for another one to mark a new chapter in their relationship.

Along with the surprise, they talked about their bed wedding, their progress in therapy, and their hopes of moving out of their small apartment. Although they’re not currently confirmed for another 90 Day Fiancé season, they said they’re open to returning for the fans who have supported them from the beginning.

During the interview, Sarper shared that the Tell All was the perfect place to show Shekinah — and everyone watching — that he was serious about keeping his word. He explained that in Turkey, typically only one ring is given, but Shekinah had often reminded him about wanting both an engagement ring and a wedding band.

“She always ate my brain: wedding band, wedding ring, wedding band,” he said.

90 Day Fiancé star Sarper further added that once he started earning in the U.S., he knew it was time to follow through. He called the moment a promise fulfilled.

“She always was saying that I’m not keeping my promises. [The Tell All] was a great place to show that I’m keeping my promises in front of everyone,” he said.

For Shekinah, the moment was unexpected. She said she liked the original engagement ring Sarper gave her in Turkey, but its high setting made it difficult to wear every day. Even though the new ring was a more practical choice, she shared that the first one is still meaningful to her because it was the ring Sarper used to propose.

90 Day Fiancé couple also talked about their unusual wedding, which happened in bed — something they now call their “bedding.” Shekinah said it felt like the right choice since they spend a lot of time in bed every day, from starting their mornings to ending the day there. Sarper shared that the idea felt personal and meaningful to them.

“We are a unique couple. Whatever we do, there’s something not normal,” he said.

Initially unsure if the concept would feel too playful or awkward, Sarper joked that his outfit — a vest and bow tie — reminded him of a Chippendales look, but the final result turned out “sexy, classy, elegant, and timeless,” according to Shekinah.

Beyond the wedding, the couple revealed they’ve started therapy and are working on building better communication. Shekinah admitted that finding the right therapist was a process, comparing it to dating.

“You have to have a lot of first dates with therapists until you find the one that’s a good fit,” she said.

90 Day Fiancé star Sarper added that while arguments still happen, they’ve learned to recover more quickly. Looking ahead, they’re hoping to move into a bigger place together, though they’re still debating between staying in the U.S. or relocating to Turkey.
