The overwhelming response to last week's Page Six story is that "this would NEVER, EVER happen," says Matthew Gilbert. But he says in an era where O.J. Simpson's If I Did It is a possibility, anything can happen. "I can just see some producer putting together a low-budget affair starring Rose and streaming it through Rose’s website, perhaps, or a site with a less obvious stigma," says Gilbert. "I can see people watching it, especially those who find the #MeToo movement to be an expression of liberal political correctness, those who feel that women shouldn’t be so sensitive and difficult. I can see the show developing a loyal following, just as off-kilter sites such as Alex Jones’s InfoWars have. It’s hard to believe Charlie Rose’s Bathrobe Confessions would ever come into existence. But I remember the disbelief I felt in the late 1990s, when I first heard about an upcoming TV series where — oh my God — they actually leave a group of people in the wild to see if they can survive."
