The bestselling New Orleans author who sold 135 million copies of nearly 40 books devoted to vampires, witches and werewolves died of a stroke on Saturday, her son Christopher Rice announced late last night on social media. "Earlier tonight, my mother, Anne Rice, passed away due to complications resulting from a stroke," Christopher Rice tweeted, accompanied by a post on her Facebook page. "She left us almost nineteen years to the day my father, her husband Stan, died." Rice's death comes as AMC has two adaptations of Rice's books in the works, produced by Christopher Rice: Mayfair and Interview With the Vampire.
