Airing in 1999 and 2000 on Britain's Channel 4, the original Queer as Folk starred Game of Thrones' Aiden Gillen and Sons of Anarchy's Charlie Hunnam before they made it big in America, joining Craig Kelly as three gay men living in Manchester. An American remake aired on Showtime from 2000 to 2005. Davies, who led the revival of Doctor Who in 2005 and recently wrote and produced A Very English Scandal, is teaming with writer Stephen Dunn on a reboot of the original Queer as Folk. "The new version of the show will feature entirely new characters in a new setting," according to Variety. "It is described as a modern take on the original British series that centers on a group of club-going friends who find support in the gay community following a tragedy."
