CNN+ is already planning cuts two weeks after its launch

The CNN streaming service launched two weeks ago today, and it already is planning "big cuts" after a "slow start," reports Axios. CNN has already spent $300 million on CNN+ with plans to "invest around $1 billion" over the next four years, reports Axios' Sara Fischer, who adds that "hundreds of millions of dollars are expected to be cut from that original investment total." Fischer reports "CNN executives, with help from consulting firm McKinsey, originally expected to bring in around 2 million subscribers in the U.S. in the service's first year and 15-18 million after four years." But the cuts are a sign that CNN isn't expecting to meet those goals. All this is taking place before Christ Licht assumes his role as the new CEO of CNN on May 1, succeeding disgraced CNN president Jeff Zucker. It will ultimately up to Licht and his team to decide what to do with CNN+. UPDATE: CNBC reports CNN+ has fewer than 10,000 daily users.
