"People love the podcast, love the TV show, and it’s the next medium," says Desus Nice of their new book God-Level Knowledge Darts: Life Lessons from the Bronx. "People were like, 'Yo, we want something we can hold in our hands and read while taking a wild dump.' We got you." The Kid Mero equates having a book with having their own sneaker. "Yeah, Random House is like the Nike of publishing, dog. You realize, Yo, not only am I putting out a book, I’m putting out a book via Random House. That’s like your signature shoe coming out." Mero noted that Random House is publishing Barack Obama's upcoming book. "Yeah, this is serious sh*t, okay?" adds Desus. "I’m turning into a bit of a book snob. I’m meeting other authors and I’m like, 'Oh, you were published by who? Oh, haha, sorry about that.' Random House gang, ah ah ah! Me and Mero are getting Random House tattooed on our necks. That’s how serious we are about this." Also, being published authors has made their parents proud. "Yeah. My mom is definitely feeling that way — until she reads the part about drugs," says Mero. "Then, she’s going to be like, 'F*ck, this is going to be a best seller, and here’s my son talking about doing angel dust.'" Desus adds: "Yeah, my mother’s a retired librarian and she’s proud of me, but at the same time she was like, 'You know, they’re going to steal this book from the library.' Sorry, New York Public Library. Put some extra sensors in it."
