Desus & Mero to End as Comedy Duo Splits

It's the end of the road for Desus & Mero — both the show and the popular comedy duo.

"Desus Nice and The Kid Mero will be pursuing separate creative endeavors moving forward. Showtime's late-night talk show Desus & Mero will not be returning for a fifth season," a Showtime spokesperson said in a statement provided to Variety.

"Desus Nice and The Kid Mero have made a name for themselves in comedy and in the late-night space as quick-witted cultural commentators," the network added. "Throughout its run, the series won a WGA Award, received Critics' Choice nominations and scored interviews with President Barack Obama, President Joe Biden, Derek Jeter, Missy Elliott, Denzel Washington, Charlize Theron, David Letterman, Yo-Yo Ma and many more. They have been brilliant hosts, and we wish them the best, along with the team at JAX Media and the incredible crew."

Desus & Mero first debuted on Viceland in 2016 before moving to Showtime in early 2019. The late night talk show aired for four seasons, airing twice per week in it first three seasons, and then weekly during Season 4. The series' final episode aired in June, featuring guest Derek Jeter.

Rumors of Desus and Mero's split began circulating in June, but it wasn't until Monday that Showtime confirmed the show has been canceled. In addition to the series' cancellation, the duo's popular Bodega Boys podcast — which helped launch their careers — has come to an end after seven years.
